Amit Singh brings both extensive legal expertise and practical business experience to the firm. His practice focuses primarily on sophisticated corporate transactions involving emerging growth companies, often acting as outside general counsel to those companies. Mr. Singh has represented a broad range of clients, including entrepreneurs, start-up and mature companies, venture capitalists, hedge funds, strategic corporate investors and angel investors. He advises clients on a variety of complex legal issues and business transactions, including business formations, early stage and mezzanine financings, employment and intellectual property issues, as well as mergers and acquisitions. He has experience counseling companies and investors in a broad range of industries, including biotechnology, software, hardware, medical devices and entertainment.

Mr. Singh also represents managers and investors in the formation of venture capital funds, private equity funds and hedge funds. After a fund is formed, he often continues to add value as outside general counsel to the fund, assisting its managers in the fund's transactions and advising on issues that arise throughout the life of the fund.

Prior to founding Benchmark Law Group PC, Mr. Singh practiced as a corporate lawyer at top law firms both on Wall Street and in Silicon Valley. First, at Cadwalader, Wickersham and Taft LLP in New York, the oldest law firm in the United States, and later at Cooley Godward LLP in Palo Alto, one of the premier law firms focused on the representation of emerging growth companies and venture capitalists.

Mr. Singh received his graduate law degree (LL.M.) in corporate law from the New York University School of Law and his J.D. degree from the University of California in San Francisco (Hastings). He is admitted to practice law in both California and New York.
